All instrumental lessons are completely free to all students that participate and due to the popularity of these specialist lessons there is a waiting list. We are very proud to boast a truly excellent peripatetic program, which is run with 5 industry professionals for 30 minutes a lesson. Through the various genres, styles and eras contained in our Areas of Study they will explore musical context, musical language, and performance and composition skills. Learners are encouraged to be creative and to broaden their musical horizons and understanding with Areas of Study that inspire and challenge. The OCR GCSE (9–1) in Music requires learners to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the musical elements, musical contexts and musical language,and allow learners to apply these to their own work when performing and composing. Summer 2: Hall of the Mountain King: Sequencing All students in class are taught the full curriculum. We use a range of strategies for all students to be able to access and progress through the full curriculum. ![]() We do this through:Įnsuring pupils perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, staples and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musiciansĮnsuring pupils learn to sing and use their voices, to create and compose music with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, use technology appropriately and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellenceĮnsuring pupils understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations. In KS3 Music, we aim to provide the opportunity to learn new technical, constructive and expressive skills in music that will instil a curiosity and joy for music.
